India Block conspiracy claims emerge as NDA denounces Election Commission
A coordinated critique emerged on October 9 after 42 ex‑judges sent an open letter to the Election Commission, alleging irregularities in voter registration. Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance interpreted the letter as proof of an "India Block" operating under foreign direction.
Bihar’s Pramod Kumar said the judges must have uncovered a grand scheme, noting that the India Block acts on external cues. He raised questions about where opposition figure Rahul Gandhi meets overseas and what agenda is discussed.
Shravan Kumar, also from Bihar, defended the sanctity of constitutional bodies, stating that while dissent is a citizen’s right, it should not cross the line into baseless attacks on institutions that safeguard democracy.
BJP representatives, including Pratul Shahdev, highlighted that the commission’s removal of 28 million dead voters from the electoral roll reflects strict adherence to legal norms. They argued that the commission cannot grant voting rights to non‑resident Indians.
Mrityunjay Tiwari warned that raising doubts about the commission is tantamount to weakening democracy itself, accusing Rahul Gandhi of orchestrating street‑level theatrics to destabilise governance.
Gurdeep Prakash described the allegations as a "meticulously planned plot" aimed at hampering India’s rapid development, while Santosh Pandey called for the rallying of "gallant forces" to protect the nation’s democratic fabric.
