India’s 2026 BRICS Chairmanship Highlights Leadership Gathering in Delhi

As India assumes the BRICS chair for the year 2026, New Delhi became the centre of diplomatic activity during the opening ceremony of the 18th summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed President Vladimir Putin, President Xi Jinping, President Prabowo Subianto, President Cyril Ramaphosa, President Abdel Fattah Al‑Sisi, Crown Prince Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other global heads of state. The subsequent dinner brought together Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister J P Nadda, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and a host of senior ministers. The gathering reinforced India’s agenda titled “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, reflecting the country’s commitment to a Humanity First approach.
