Congress MP Imran Masood Says Delegation Denied Access, Plans Delhi Protest

Congress MP Imran Masood alleged that the Meerut administration prohibited his delegation from meeting the family of Lalita Gautam. According to Masood, the team — comprising seven members, including four MPs and a state legislator — was turned away at the Kashi Toll Plaza.

Masood claimed that the officials cited security concerns, while his group simply wanted to express solidarity with the grieving relatives. "We were all ready to meet the victim’s family, but the police stopped us," he told reporters.

The congressmen said they will stage a demonstration in Delhi on July 27 to highlight what they call the denial of basic democratic rights. The statement comes after the police briefed the delegation on the chaotic situation that unfolded earlier, involving ambulance blockages and unpermitted protests.
