Imphal‑Dimapur‑Guwahati Bus Service Restored Amid Calls to Avoid Bandhs

Imphal, Aug 30 (IANS) – After a gap of more than three years, the inter‑state bus route connecting Imphal, Dimapur and Guwahati is operating again without disruptions. The revival of the service comes as Chief Minister Yumnan Khemchand Singh urges citizens to reject bandhs, emphasizing that uninterrupted transport is crucial for the state's poor and working‑class families. He pointed out that many residents previously faced prohibitively high air‑fares to travel between the three cities; the bus service now offers an affordable alternative, easing financial strain. Singh also warned that bandhs disproportionately hurt daily‑wage laborers, vegetable sellers and students, whose livelihoods and education suffer when roads and markets shut down. The CM praised a delegation of fourteen civic leaders who recently lobbied in New Delhi for the NRC rollout, noting that their efforts have already had a positive impact at the national level. He concluded by stating that the government remains committed to addressing the aspirations of Manipuris through constructive dialogue, not through forced closures that only create more difficulties.
