Immediate Suspension Issued to Ministry Marketing Officer Amid Corruption Probe

New Delhi – The Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, has taken decisive action after a corruption complaint surfaced against a senior marketing official of the ministry. The officer, named Anurag, was accused of demanding ₹1 lakh from one storage facility and ₹60,000 from another as a condition for releasing subsidy payments during a district inspection.

Warehouse managers approached the minister with the allegation, prompting Chauhan to order an instant suspension of the official. The minister highlighted that the ministry will not tolerate any form of extortion that undermines the integrity of public welfare schemes.

Concurrently, Chauhan has summoned the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development along with other top functionaries for a meeting on Monday evening. The agenda includes reviewing a series of irregularities reported across various departments and issuing firm directives to curb malpractice.

Later that day, the minister will travel to Punjab to join the BJP’s “Nasha‑Mukt Punjab Yatra”. He will commence the rally at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, then move to the Danamandi market in Talwandi Sabo for the official launch. Additional appearances include a rally in Mairakhana and a direct outreach session with women’s self‑help groups in Bathinda.
