The Indian Meteorological Department raised a weather warning for Mumbai and its outskirts, highlighting the likelihood of heavy rainfall, lightning strikes, and winds blowing as fast as 60 km/h.

Measurements taken by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation reveal a total of 134 mm of rain in the city proper between 8 a.m. on July 1 and 6 a.m. on July 2. The eastern fringe saw 164 mm, while the western fringe recorded 149 mm.

In the east, Mulund’s Mitha Nagar Panchayat School area recorded the maximum 218.6 mm, followed by S Ward Office (212 mm) and Powai’s Passpoli School (208.4 mm). The western side’s highest reading came from Santacruz’s SWM workshop with 216 mm and Coconut Grove School with 214.4 mm.

Authorities have asked citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, secure loose objects, and stay alert for possible flooding in low‑lying districts. Emergency response teams remain on high alert.
