IMD Forecast Predicts Thunderstorms with 40-50 km/h Gusts in NCR

The Indian Meteorological Department has released a detailed outlook for the capital region, highlighting the likelihood of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds of 40‑50 km per hour on July 21 and 22.

According to the bulletin, cloud cover will be extensive across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad. Rainfall will begin as a moderate drizzle in the early hours but will intensify to heavy showers by mid‑day, with frequent lightning strikes.

Temperatures are forecast to peak at 32°C on both days, while minimums will stay around 23‑25°C, providing a considerable drop from the previous day's highs. The wind direction is expected to shift to the southwest, amplifying the feeling of chill during the storm.

The department's yellow alert signals that water‑logging, reduced visibility and potential damage to trees and power lines are possible. Citizens are encouraged to secure loose objects outdoors, refrain from driving through flooded streets, and stay updated via official channels.

After the two‑day period, the outlook indicates a gradual return to more stable weather, with light to moderate rain expected on July 23 and clear skies thereafter.
