IMD Alerts Persistent Rain Across Rajasthan, Spotlight on Udaipur and Kota

The India Meteorological Department has raised a weather alert for Rajasthan, citing an active southwest monsoon that is expected to deliver continuous rain throughout the next week. Jaipur’s weather centre director highlighted the presence of a low‑pressure system over the Bay of Bengal and a circulatory pattern over north‑eastern Rajasthan as key drivers of the current situation.

Rainfall reports from the past 24 hours show that eastern Rajasthan, particularly Sambhar‑Jaipur, received up to 84 mm of rain, categorised as heavy. The same region is projected to stay under monsoon influence for at least another seven days, with moderate to heavy showers likely.

The forecast also points to a heightened risk of rain in Udaipur, Kota division and adjoining areas, where both moderate and heavy rains could occur over the next four to five days. In the western sector, Jodhpur and Bikaner districts are expected to experience increased thunderstorm activity, strong gusts and light to moderate rainfall.

While some border districts may only see isolated rain episodes, the overall outlook suggests that monsoon activity will dominate much of Rajasthan for the coming week, with a significant chance of rain spreading to other parts of the state.
