Illegal Mining Suspected: SDM Escapes Dumper Ramming Bid
A case has been registered in Yamunanagar, Haryana, against a dumper truck driver accused of trying to run over the Vyaspur Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Dr. Kuldeep Singh. The incident has drawn attention to suspected illegal mining activity in the area, and police are searching for the absconding driver.
Dr. Singh filed a complaint with the Sadhaura police station over the attack, which took place early on October 31. He was heading to the PWD Rest House in Sadhaura for the 'Run for Unity' programme at around 6:15 am when he saw a dumper truck near the building.
The dumper's number plate was faded, raising the SDM's suspicion that it was carrying mining material illegally. He signalled the driver to halt so that he could check the vehicle. The driver ignored the signal, increased speed, and moved the dumper directly toward the SDM with the intention of running him over. Dr. Singh escaped unhurt and informed the police before attempting to follow the truck.
During the pursuit, a white car tailing the dumper tried to obstruct the SDM's vehicle. The SDM has alleged that the car driver intentionally drove erratically and braked suddenly to block his way, enabling the dumper driver to get away.
The SDM recorded the entire episode on his phone. Sadhaura police station in-charge Lakhvinder Singh said that cases have been registered against the dumper driver and the occupants of the car on the basis of the SDM's complaint. The matter is being investigated under the relevant sections of law.
Authorities said that efforts to identify and arrest the accused are ongoing. Police are also examining whether illegally mined material was being transported in the dumper and whether the people in the car helped the driver flee. Officials have stated that the accused will be arrested soon.
