Illegal Firecracker Factory Found in Residential Building, 3 Arrested

A suspected illegal firecracker factory operating inside a residential building in Delhi's Gokalpuri locality has been shut down by police, who arrested three men and seized a significant quantity of explosive material. The operation has raised concerns about safety in densely populated neighbourhoods.

Officers from Gokalpuri Police Station raided the premises on October 26 after receiving information about unauthorised firecracker production on the second floor of a house in Gali Number 14, Gokalpur village.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohit Goswami (29), Armaan (24) and Sameer (21). They face charges of illegally making and storing firecrackers. Police said that the accused did not possess any valid licence or permit to carry out such activities.

During the search, police discovered five boxes containing 880 ready cold pyro firecrackers, 600 unfinished firecrackers and 34 kilograms of suspicious explosive powder. Officers also seized empty shells, a filling machine, a weighing machine and packaging material used in the production process.

The recovered items were taken into possession following the prescribed legal process. Authorities warned that the illegal making and storage of explosives in a residential area presents a serious risk to public safety.

A case has been registered vide FIR number 286/26 at Gokalpuri Police Station under sections 125, 223(b) and 288 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with section 9B(1) of the Explosives Act. The investigation has begun.

According to police, none of the three accused has a previous criminal record.

Police are currently inspecting the house where the illegal production was taking place. The probe is expected to cover the origin of the materials used and the intended distribution of the firecrackers. The investigation will continue.
