In response to the Supreme Court’s criticism of municipal inaction, a specialised inspection team has been constituted. The panel includes two senior professors from the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Delhi and two experienced draftsmen.

The team is tasked with jointly inspecting the disputed sites in Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and the adjacent Saket area, in coordination with MCD officials and the Municipal Commissioner’s (MICS) query officer.

Their mandate covers verification of structural legality, measurement of any unauthorised extensions, and preparation of a factual report for the Supreme Court. The findings will guide any further legal or administrative steps required to enforce demolition or regularisation.

The judges emphasized that the report must be submitted promptly, as delayed compliance could trigger contempt of court proceedings against the municipal authorities.
