IIT Bombay student found dead after exam cheating; BJP demands truth

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday condemned the death of a second‑year IIT Bombay student who was discovered after being caught with a mobile phone during an examination. The deceased, identified as Sahil Vakoade from Yavatmal district, was pursuing an Energy Science and Engineering degree. BJP leader Ram Kadam said that the circumstances surrounding the death are "disturbing" and that the truth will emerge only after a rigorous investigation. He urged that the university, along with law enforcement, treat the case with urgency to bring clarity to the family and the academic community.
