The Ugram 7.62 mm rifle, co‑developed by Dvipa Defense and ARDE, has entered the final purchase stage for several central armed police forces. After clearing all mandatory trials, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Indo‑Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the National Security Guard (NSG) are processing procurement orders. The rifle’s modern rotating‑bolt, gas‑operated action, sub‑four‑kilogram weight and 500‑metre effective range make it a competitive alternative to imported small arms, directly supporting India’s drive to reduce defence imports.
