Hyderabad road crash: SUV hits retired soldier on scooter, multiple casualties

Police in Hyderabad have registered a fatal hit‑and‑run incident that occurred near a school in the Narsingi police jurisdiction on August 10. An SUV, allegedly speeding and traveling on the wrong side of the road, collided with a scooter ridden by a former army serviceman. The veteran was thrown into the air and died instantly. The errant vehicle then struck three other commuters, injuring them; one of the injured remains in critical condition. According to witnesses, five young men were inside the SUV; they abandoned the vehicle at the crash site and fled. Early investigations suggest the occupants may have been intoxicated, prompting a police probe. The SUV is registered to a resident of the Shamshabad Airport area named Babu Gaud. The deceased’s body has been sent to Osmania General Hospital for post‑mortem analysis. The same day saw two additional traffic accidents: a car‑motorbike collision in Kondapur that killed a 50‑year‑old man from Wanaparthy district and injured another, and a motorcycle crash into a road divider in Jagitial district that resulted in one death and one injury.
