Husband Arrested in West Bengal for Slaying Wife, Displaying Head

Police in West Bengal have detained a man accused of brutally murdering his wife and carrying her severed head through a public temple in the Gangarampur region. The arrest occurred on Wednesday after residents reported a distressing scene that terrified the local population.

The incident took place in the Narendrapur locality, where a community temple is typically open to visitors. Witnesses stated that the suspect, named Rintu Ghosh, was discovered inside the shrine after neighbors heard screaming. When he eventually emerged, his appearance sent shockwaves through the crowd. He was clutching a knife in one hand and the victim’s severed head in the other.

Authorities promptly responded to the area and placed Ghosh under arrest. The victim, identified as Seema Sarkar, was pronounced dead, and both her head and body were safely recovered by police personnel. Investigators have assured the public that a thorough probe is underway, though no definitive motive has been established.

Those who knew the suspect noted that he had recently abandoned his job as a state bus driver. His withdrawal from regular employment coincided with noticeable shifts in his daily routine and diet. While he occasionally avoided non-vegetarian meals, some residents recalled him behaving in ways that mirrored tantric rituals. These unusual habits left friends and family uncertain about his mental state.

According to a close relative, the couple raised two children together. Family members expressed profound confusion and grief, stating they were completely unaware of any impending crisis. Although neighborhood gossip suggests a potential domestic row may have sparked the violence, official investigations have not yet validated these theories.

Law enforcement agencies are continuing their interrogation process to map out the timeline of events and identify potential triggers. Officers are also reviewing local footage and collecting witness statements to build a comprehensive case file. The tragedy has left the region grappling with shock and fear.
