Hooda Demands Fulfilment of ₹3,100 per Quintal Rice Purchase Promise

In a statement released on Friday, former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Hooda pressed the state government to honour its pledge of buying paddy at ₹3,100 per quintal. He argued that the failure to meet this price has forced farmers to sell their produce at rates far below the Minimum Support Price (MSP), with paddy fetching about ₹400 less and bajra up to ₹900 less per quintal. Hooda recounted his tours of multiple market yards where he met growers and commission agents, all of whom expressed frustration over delayed payments, irregular moisture‑meter readings, and a lack of transparent verification. He called for an immediate bonus to offset the losses and urged the administration to streamline the procurement chain.
