Hisar, Hansi Bus Services Hit as Roadways Employees Protest

Public transport in Hisar and Hansi has come under strain after roadways employees began an indefinite protest on Saturday. Work at the Hisar depot of Haryana Roadways has been brought to a standstill, with nearly 260 buses from the Hisar and Hansi depots remaining off the road.

Employees started blocking the depot exits at 4 am. They prevented buses from leaving the depot and the workshop, and even a bus scheduled for Chandigarh could not be taken out of the bus stand. The disruption has left passengers facing difficulties from the early hours of the morning.

The protest is linked to demands that workers say have been pending for a long time. These include night halt allowance, travel allowance (TA) and overtime payments. The Saanjha Sangharsh Samiti, which is leading the agitation, says the employees have been protesting for 40 days.

An attempt to resolve the issue was made on Friday evening, when a meeting was held with the administration under the chairmanship of SDM Jyoti Mittal. Union representatives and officials could not reach a consensus, and the talks ended inconclusively. The union then went ahead with its planned indefinite wheel-jam and protest from Saturday morning.

The roadways administration has said it is working to restore services. Rahul Mittal, General Manager of the Hisar depot, stated that efforts are continuing to normalize the situation. He said coordination is being maintained with higher officials and the district administration, with talks underway to address the situation.

The employees have announced that their agitation will continue until their demands are met. Travelers who depend on buses from Hisar and Hansi are likely to face further inconvenience until the matter is resolved.
