Himanta Sarma Praises Muslim Groups for Cow Protection Call

In a notable development ahead of Eid, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has commended several Muslim organizations and local Eidgah committees for appealing to the community to avoid cow sacrifice. Through posts on X, Sarma informed the public that committees in Barpeta, Lakhimpur, Hojai, and Kamrup have taken the lead in requesting citizens to refrain from the practice. The Chief Minister also drew attention to the Dhubri Town Eidgah Committee’s statement, which explicitly called for respecting Hindu sentiments and adhering to the law. Sarma thanked all participating committees and urged every Eidgah across Assam to observe a cow-sacrifice-free festival this year.
