High-Value Narcotics Confiscated in Khowai and Champhai Districts
Security forces operating under the Spear Corps banner executed two distinct anti‑drug missions in the northeastern states of Tripura and Mizoram, seizing narcotics worth more than 11.30 crore rupees. In Tripura's Khowai district, a joint task force with Customs recovered 501 kilograms of cannabis, valued at roughly 2.50 crore rupees, after a chase that spanned 18 kilometres and ended near Baikunthpur village. The driver of the target vehicle escaped, but the haul was secured. In Mizoram's Champhai district, the same unit intercepted 11 kilograms of methamphetamine tablets, with an estimated market value of 8.80 crore rupees. Officials stress that the dried cannabis produced locally is not consumed within Tripura; instead, it is smuggled to northern Indian states where it commands higher prices. The collaborative effort, involving state police, Assam Rifles, Tripura State Rifles and other agencies, showcases a relentless push to dismantle drug networks and protect the region’s younger population.
