High-level probe into MPSC alleged irregularities announced by CM
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis formally recommended to Governor Jishnu Dev Verma the formation of a high‑level probe into the Maharashtra Public Service Commission’s recent exam controversies. The proposal, submitted on Monday, calls for a three‑month investigation led by a retired High Court judge.
The committee will operate under Article 317 of the Constitution, examining the conduct of current and former members of the MPSC, including its chairman. The aim is to determine whether any action is required against officials implicated in the alleged misconduct.
Fadnavis stressed that any removal of commission members must follow a strict constitutional procedure, ensuring transparency and accountability. The move is seen as a response to the escalating protests by candidates across the state.
The investigation is expected to produce a detailed report within ninety days, which will guide further steps to restore confidence in the state’s recruitment system.
