High Court Orders Central Bureau of Investigation to Take Over Disha Salian Probe

The Mumbai High Court on September 14 directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to assume control of the Disha Salian murder investigation. The order came after the victim’s father petitioned the court, alleging interference by the state police during the former chief minister’s administration.

According to the court’s directive, the CBI must file a fresh FIR, collect all evidence, and submit a detailed report on any procedural gaps or external pressures that may have affected earlier inquiries. The ruling underscores the judiciary’s role in ensuring impartial investigations in high‑profile cases.

Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Nirupam said the court’s decision will bring transparency, and he expressed hope that the CBI will clarify the involvement of political figures, including Aditya Thackeray, if any.
