High‑Altitude Drop Validates Indigenous Para‑Computer and Oxygen Gear
The recent 22,000‑foot jump by DRDO’s test team showcased more than just a parachute. Alongside the MCPS, the mission employed a domestically developed para‑computer that provided real‑time telemetry, an oxygen system to sustain the jumper in sub‑zero air, and a specialised jumpsuit designed for extreme cold.
Conducted in the Nyoma Mud Drop Zone, the trial proved that each component can operate independently and as part of an integrated system. The para‑computer remained functional throughout the free‑fall and descent, while the oxygen regulator delivered a steady flow, ensuring the jumper’s physiological safety.
These results reinforce India’s push for self‑reliance in critical defence technologies, offering a reliable solution for rapid troop insertion in high‑altitude theatres.
