Hemant Soren’s Political Journey Highlighted on His Birthday

Born in 1975 in Nemra village of Ramgarh district, Hemant Soren is the son of veteran tribal leader Shibu Soren, founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). His political career began in 2009 when he entered the Rajya Sabha. He served as Jharkhand’s Deputy Chief Minister from September 2010 until January 2013, after which he assumed the Chief Minister’s office on July 13, 2013. Though he lost the Dumka constituency in the 2014 assembly elections, he retained a seat from Barhait and was appointed Leader of Opposition in January 2015. Soren returned as Chief Minister after the 2019 elections, winning both Dumka and Barhait seats and securing a confidence vote in 2022.
