Heavy Rain Triggers Hill Collapse in Kurla, Death Toll Reaches Six

Continuous monsoon precipitation in Mumbai led to a landslide on the third hill of Ashok Nagar, Kurla, early Wednesday. Between 3:00 am and 3:45 am, a portion of the hill collapsed onto adjacent houses, killing six residents and injuring four. Immediate response came from Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation officials, fire fighters, National Disaster Response Force, police, and ambulance services. The deceased include two teenagers, an unidentified middle‑aged man and three children of the Arif Sheikh family. The injured – two youths and two adults – are receiving treatment at Kurla Bhabha Hospital. Mayor Ritu Tawde inspected the rescue work, pledged ₹4 lakh per bereaved family and ₹50,000 medical assistance per injured person, and pledged ongoing municipal support.
