Heatwave Persists in Central Bihar While Rain Clouds Gather in the North
While the monsoon intensifies over the northern fringe of Bihar, the central and southern parts of the state continue to wrestle with scorching temperatures and high humidity. The India Meteorological Department has kept a Yellow Alert active for twenty‑five districts, citing the risk of sudden thunderstorms, strong winds up to 40 km/h and frequent lightning.
The alert encompasses western and eastern Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Supaul, Saharsa, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar and Khagaria. Peripheral zones like Camur, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui are also expected to see gusty rains.
Authorities recommend that people stay indoors during peak storm periods, avoid open fields and take shelter in robust structures. Patna, along with Gaya and nearby districts, should see relatively stable weather, with occasional cloud cover and a low likelihood of intense rain. Nevertheless, daytime temperatures remain elevated, hitting 36‑37°C in several locations, with only light evening showers providing fleeting comfort.
