Health officials warn of seasonal viral spike, urge preventive measures

Noida, August 29 – As the monsoon season approaches, the district health administration has warned of a pronounced increase in respiratory and vector‑borne diseases across the Delhi NCR region.

Current records indicate 192 confirmed swine flu patients and 48 dengue cases in Gautam Buddha Nagar alone. In light of these figures, an emergency advisory has been dispatched to all health‑care providers, emphasizing rapid identification of patients with high fever, cough, throat irritation, breathing difficulty, body aches or marked weakness.

Facilities are instructed to allocate isolation areas, enforce use of personal protective equipment, and ensure that essential medicines, diagnostic tools and supportive therapy are readily available. Severe cases must receive continuous monitoring and, if needed, be shifted to hospitals equipped with intensive care units.

Parallel to the flu response, vector‑control squads are intensifying mosquito‑larvae surveillance and chemical fogging in high‑risk localities. Residents are being asked to eliminate stagnant water sources around homes and report any breeding grounds to authorities.

Experts stress that crowded public spaces, inadequate hand hygiene and delayed medical consultation can exacerbate the spread. The public is encouraged to cover mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, wash hands frequently, and seek professional medical advice promptly if flu‑like symptoms appear.
