Health Campaigns Linked to Heritage Duty in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, October 5 – The state's Chief Minister connected the upcoming Pitri Paksh celebrations with an urgent call for public‑health action. He reminded citizens that paying tribute to ancestors through shraddha and tarpan should also manifest as a commitment to protect current and future generations.

He noted that the period beginning with Ashwin Krishna Pratipada (Sept 27) and ending on Ashwin Krishna Amavasya (Oct 10) offers a unique platform to rally communities around shared values. By acknowledging the labor and sacrifice of previous generations, citizens gain a moral impetus to uphold health standards, keep homes clean, and respond swiftly to disease warnings.

Referencing the historic account of Shah Jahan soliciting water for the rites of his ancestors while detained, the Chief Minister highlighted how reverence for past generations has traditionally guided public welfare. He urged families to embody this respect by ensuring their households are safe, disease‑free, and supportive of children’s development.

As part of this vision, the government announced a comprehensive communicable disease control campaign running from 1‑31 October 2025, followed by a "Dastak" mobilisation from 12‑31 October 2025. Health workers, Anganwadi staff and other officials will conduct house‑to‑house visits, educate residents on sanitation, monitor fever signs and facilitate timely treatment. The Chief Minister asserted that the collective effort will transform ancestral gratitude into a healthier, more resilient Uttar Pradesh.
