Hazaribagh Hotel Gunfire: Threat Post Linked to Rahul Dubey

A hotel in Hazaribagh's Matwari area came under gunfire late Thursday night, with attackers firing several rounds and damaging the main entrance glass. The incident occurred in Jharkhand and has prompted a police investigation.

No one was reported hurt, though a security guard posted at the hotel escaped narrowly. The attackers fled after the firing.

Following the attack, a social media post attributed to gangster Rahul Dubey claimed responsibility for the incident.

Police from Korra police station reached the hotel after receiving information and began inquiries. Footage from CCTV cameras installed at the hotel and in nearby areas is being checked.

The post claims the hotel was attacked because owner Abhay Singh did not respond to phone calls and messages from Rahul Dubey. It warns Singh that if he does not contact the gang, his home or family could face an attack next time.

The post also issues a warning to coal traders and transporters in Hazaribagh. It says they should not conduct business without contacting Dubey and reaching a settlement. Alleged illegal coal extraction at New Birsa Siding is also raised in the post, which accuses Sanjay Karmali and Sonaram Manjhi of illegally lifting coal. The post demands a probe by the police and administration, and it also threatens several other individuals.

Authorities are currently examining whether the social media post is authentic and what role, if any, Rahul Dubey played in the firing. The motive behind the attack and the people responsible are being determined through CCTV footage and other evidence.

The gang led by Rahul Dubey operates in Ranchi, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh and other parts of Jharkhand. Extortion demands and shootings targeting coal traders, builders and other businessmen have been reported regularly.

Police sources say Dubey is allegedly living abroad and staying connected with his network through social media posts, WhatsApp calls and messages. Recently, police in Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh and Chatra arrested several suspected gang members and shooters during separate raids.
