Haryana's 'Samriddhi' initiative integrates technology to reduce maternal mortality

Chandigarh, 30 August — The state government of Haryana has introduced the "Samriddhi" plan, a technology‑driven effort to lower maternal and neonatal death rates. The programme mandates the registration of every pregnant woman on an online portal that tracks health indicators from conception to the post‑natal phase.

A dedicated state command centre will synchronize data with the 102 Maternal and Infant Health Call Centre, enabling real‑time surveillance of pregnancies. Health professionals will receive instant notifications regarding risk assessments, upcoming deliveries and required follow‑ups.

The unique ID assigned at registration ensures that a woman's complete medical record is stored centrally, making it easy for any public, private, or medical‑college hospital to update her pregnancy dossier. This continuity of information helps in early detection of complications and swift referral to higher‑level facilities.

Regular outreach will be structured: low‑risk pregnancies will be contacted every three months, while high‑risk cases will enjoy more intensive monitoring, with the frequency increasing as delivery approaches to guarantee rapid emergency response.
