Harshimrat Kaur Badal Seeks NIA Investigation of 2024 and 2026 Sikh Temple Attacks

In a formal communication addressed to Home Minister Amit Shah, MP Harshimrat Kaur Badal demanded that the National Investigation Agency examine two attacks on Sikh religious sites – the December 2024 incident at Amritsar’s Golden Temple and the August 2026 assault on a Nanded Gurudwara that left her brother Sukheer Badal injured.

She supplied visual evidence of the kirpan weapon and the wound on Badal’s hand, insisting that the incidents are not isolated crimes but potentially components of a larger, orchestrated plot. Harshimrat pointed to alleged negligence by Punjab police and the AAP‑led state administration, claiming the perpetrator remains at large and may have ISI affiliations.

The MP warned that normalising such violent acts threatens national security, especially in a frontier state like Punjab. She urged the NIA to conduct a thorough, unbiased probe, ensure that no innocent individual is falsely implicated, and guarantee strict punishment for those found guilty.
