Harsh Malhotra rebukes Kejriwal’s claims on reduced voter list after SIR

In a press briefing on August 31, Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra dismissed Arvind Kejriwal’s criticism of the Election Commission’s Summary Revision as a tactic of “confusion‑spreading politics”. The SIR exercise, which resulted in the deletion of roughly 4.7 million entries from the Delhi electoral roll, was carried out with ample notice and a clear submission mechanism for citizens — either through online portals or Booth Level Officers. Malhotra highlighted that all political parties, including the BJP, had representatives at each polling booth during the process and no formal objections were recorded. He stated that the draft voter list now reflects only eligible, unique voters, and that Kejriwal’s supporters who previously held multiple registrations have been rightfully removed. Malhotra urged Kejriwal to raise any genuine concerns directly with the Election Commission. He also noted that any resident who discovers their name missing can file a fresh registration after September 1, furnishing evidence of Delhi residency.
