Ayodhya’s saintly circles erupted in applause over Haridwar Nagar Nigam’s bold proposal to shift all intra-city mutton outlets beyond urban boundaries, a proactive measure for the Ardh Kumbh preparations. Viewed as a cornerstone for upholding the divine city’s holiness, the unanimous resolution has sparked widespread approval among religious leaders.

From Hanuman Garhi, Mahant Ashish Das lauded the step as exemplary and pressed for its rigorous enforcement. He extended thanks to the state leadership, reiterating that meat and liquor have no place in sacred precincts. Such vices, he argued, corrupt society and propel individuals toward crime, necessitating total prohibition.

Amit Das Maharaj of the revered Siddh Peeth joined the chorus, insisting that wherever faith flourishes, bans on flesh and spirits are non-negotiable. He proposed a national template, mirroring Haridwar, to eternally guard pilgrimage hubs’ prestige.

In an exclusive interview, Saket Bhawan Temple’s Mahant Sitaram Das called the pre-Ardh Kumbh action praiseworthy, rooted in Haridwar’s timeless aura of piety and saintly gatherings. This will fortify devotees’ faith, he said, while advocating comprehensive meat-alcohol bans across India’s tirthas. Amid cultural assaults, he urged authorities to enact tough legislation and swift action.

Varun Das Maharaj, an Arya saint, welcomed the forward-thinking decision, ideal for the impending fair. Paralleling Ayodhya’s sacred status, he underscored Haridwar’s need for uncompromised purity to honor its spiritual heritage.
