Gurjit Singh Aujla Calls Punjab’s Situation a Dark Era After Activist Killing
MANSA, Oct 17 (IANS) – Following the fatal shooting of anti‑drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, Congress MP Gurjit Singh Aujla warned that Punjab is slipping into a “dark period” marked by unchecked violence.
Aujla said the state’s citizens are facing severe crimes, including open‑air murders, while the administration appears to protect perpetrators rather than victims. He appealed for decisive measures from the Home Minister, the chief minister and other authorities to restore confidence in the justice system.
“The people are forced to take the law into their own hands because the government is failing to act,” Aujla asserted, calling for an immediate crackdown on the perpetrators.
His remarks echo broader concerns within the opposition about the Bansal government’s inability to curb drug‑related violence and protect activists.
