Bihar’s Nalanda district is reeling from a gruesome case where a Class 12 student committed suicide following a brutal rape by a pistol-wielding neighbor. The 12-hour ordeal ended in tragedy, raising serious questions about local law enforcement.
According to the grieving family, they had stepped out for wheat harvesting, leaving the girl alone. Upon returning around 9 PM, her cries led them to discover the accused – son of a former ward councilor – inside their home, brandishing a firearm. He forced himself on her and issued death threats to silence the household.
Not stopping there, the accused’s father reportedly showed up, urging the family to bury the incident to save face, amid longstanding political feuds from elections. Terrified, the parents spent the night reassuring their shattered daughter of retribution.
Dawn brought more horror. While the family headed back to the fields, the mother returned at 9 AM to a locked door. Her worst fears materialized: the girl had hanged herself using a scarf from the fan.
Police arrived post-10 AM, securing the scene and dispatching the body for autopsy. DSP Rajgir, Sunil Kumar Singh, noted early mentions of romance but emphasized investigating sexual assault claims rigorously. FSL experts seized crucial evidence like clothing.
