The curtains fell on a vibrant two-day district-level Agri Science and Millet Mission Fair in Guna on February 26, hosted at the Panchayat Rest House. Organized to promote farmer prosperity under the 2026 Farmer Welfare initiative, the expo focused on cutting-edge tech, millet promotion, and income enhancement strategies.
Collector Kishor Kumar Kanyal commended Guna’s farming community for their adaptability. ‘This year, we’ve seen remarkable changes—higher incomes and novel farming models emerging from your experiments,’ he said during the closing ceremony.
Declaring 2024 as the Agri Year, Kanyal advocated for natural and organic farming. ‘Expect a temporary yield drop at first, but reap rewards later with surging output and lucrative markets,’ he explained. Organic goods command better prices, certification aids exports, and they’re ideal for health. Sunday organic markets are bridging farmers to buyers, with expansion plans underway.
Women-led Agri Sakhi groups are pivotal, delivering hands-on training in advanced practices. The introduction of e-vikas portals means no more waiting in lines—mobile apps provide real-time slot bookings for farm inputs by center, date, and time.
Guna topped charts in stubble management, minimizing burning incidents compared to last year, showcasing environmental commitment. Kanyal inspected informative stalls featuring demos from KVK Dewas and Ashoknagar experts on high-yield varieties, bio-farming, and machinery.
Interactive sessions by progressive growers and specialists covered millet galleries, inputs, and tools. Vendors displayed a range of products, while innovative farmers were honored with awards. Attendees included political leaders, officials, and thousands of eager farmers, fostering a collaborative spirit for future growth.
