Tensions in the Middle East have prompted Telangana CM Revanth Reddy to sound the alarm for Telugu expatriates in Iran and Gulf nations. Speaking from Hyderabad, Reddy called for heightened alertness in light of ongoing regional conflicts that could spiral unpredictably.
Citizens were instructed to comply rigorously with embassy-issued safety protocols and local advisories. The CM highlighted that the state government is vigilantly tracking the welfare of its people overseas and stands ready to collaborate with New Delhi for any required interventions.
‘We will spare no effort to bring our people back safely if the need arises,’ Reddy affirmed, directing officials to stay in touch with Indian consulates. This coordinated approach aims to mitigate risks amid volatile circumstances.
Echoing similar concerns, Andhra Pradesh Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu contacted Telugu laborers in Bahrain following Iran’s assault on a US base there. Bahrain hosts nearly 50,000 Andhrans, including a significant number from Patrudu’s Narsipatnam assembly segment.
In direct conversations, Patrudu checked on their safety, implored them to remain cautious, hunker down in secure spots, and heed official updates. He pledged assistance via APNRTS and indicated readiness to engage federal ministers for evacuation flights if tensions escalate further.
These directives reflect the deep ties Telugu states have with Gulf economies, where remittances fuel local growth. As diplomatic maneuvers unfold, state governments are prioritizing citizen security in these precarious times.
