Gujarat Tour: Shah Opens New Lake, Attends University Convocation and Public Meet

Union Home Minister Amit Shah began his Gujarat itinerary in Amreli district, where he cut the ribbon for the Het Ni Haveli lake at the Panchganga pilgrimage site in Dudhala. The lake, a gift from the Harikrishna Foundation, is intended to boost water availability for local agriculture and tourism.

Following the inauguration, Shah proceeded to Ahmedabad for a crucial review of the city’s preparations for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and the prospective 2036 Olympic bid. The session, convened at the Circuit House Annex in the Shahibagh locality, featured senior officials presenting status reports on major infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the Narendra Modi Stadium and the ongoing work on the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave.

Shah’s visit also included a cultural and academic component. He attended the 72nd convocation of Gujarat University at Pranjivan Vidyabhavan on Ashram Road, where he delivered the chief guest’s address. The ceremony honoured 900 graduates across seven faculties, with a special recognition for twelve outstanding students.

The minister wrapped up his one‑day tour with a "Lok Darbar" at the BKM School on Bopal Panchayat Road. Residents from the Ghatlodiya assembly constituency gathered to discuss local issues, and Shah fielded questions on development, sports, and public welfare until the event concluded at 6:15 p.m.
