Gujarat Rural Housing Board Grants Full Penalty Interest Forgiveness, New Cut‑off Jan 2027

Under the higher‑purchase scheme of the Gujarat Rural Housing Board, the government approved a total forgiveness of penalty interest amounting to ₹39.51 crore. The scheme, which targets beneficiaries of various housing loan products, originally set a shorter deadline for clearing the principal balance.

After the first recovery phase, during which 2,988 families settled ₹10.57 crore in principal across 22 district‑level camps, the administration decided to extend the deadline to 31 January 2027. This extension is designed to give households that missed the earlier window a chance to repay their remaining dues and enjoy the full waiver of penalty charges. The board urged all eligible borrowers to use the additional time wisely and complete the payment before the new cut‑off date.
