Gujarat Police’s Cyber Awareness Mission Reaches Over 5,000 Events

The Gujarat Police concluded its “Operation Safe Cyber Space” on July 28 after a 28‑day intensive outreach across the state. The operation, driven by the cyber cell and SH‑team officers, focused on shielding women and minors from internet‑based fraud, including sextortion, financial deceptions, deep‑fake videos and cyber‑stalking. Participants highlighted practical guidance on handling OTP phishing, rejecting dubious URLs and contacting the 1930 cyber helpline for assistance. Police Constable Binul Jagdishchandra described school seminars that emphasized the “good touch‑bad touch” principle and reassured children that police officers are allies, not adversaries. The initiative reported a total of 5,000+ programmes, with the first week delivering 1,874 sessions on basic cyber literacy and the second week hosting 3,415 targeted workshops on severe online threats. Senior officer Ajay Kumar Chaudhary warned about the growing prevalence of fake profiles, digital blackmail and revenge porn, urging citizens to adopt safe mobile habits. The drive also featured cyber rallies, community workshops and direct engagement with parents and educators to broaden digital safety knowledge.
