From 2016‑17 to 2025‑26 Gujarat’s MSP Purchases Jump Tenfold

Data released by Gujarat’s agriculture department shows a dramatic rise in MSP procurement. In the 2016‑17 fiscal year, only about 2.01 lakh farmers received approximately ₹1,775 crore for 17.54 lakh metric tonnes of crops.

By the 2025‑26 year, the reach expanded to over 14 lakh farmers, with 32.54 lakh metric tonnes bought and payments totaling near ₹23,800 crore. Officials attribute this surge to continuous digital enhancements and a firm commitment to fair pricing.

Over the past decade, the state’s cumulative purchase value has crossed the ₹23,000 crore mark, reflecting a sustained effort to provide growers with adequate compensation.
