Gujarat launches intensive response to Chandipura virus amid pending vaccine

With no specific vaccine or approved drug available for the Chandipura virus, Gujarat's health department has mobilized a scientific task force to fast‑track research for a cure. Minister Prabhul Panjshere said that specialized teams are collecting samples and analysing viral genetics to develop an effective vaccine and treatment regimen.

In the meantime, the department urges residents to repair cracks in earthen walls, avoid rumors, and promptly seek medical attention for children exhibiting fever, vomiting, seizures or other severe symptoms. Patients are being directed to the nearest district hospital that can provide oxygen support and ventilatory care.
