Gujarat Enforcement Captures Six‑Case Wanted Smuggler in Ahmedabad
In a coordinated operation, Gujarat’s State Monitoring Cell arrested a fugitive liquor dealer in Ahmedabad, bringing an end to a three‑year evasion. The accused, Naresh Bhai alias Nario Rawal, has been listed as a wanted person in seven prohibition‑related cases since 2023.
Police were alerted that the suspect had relocated to the Naroda locality, near the Ranasan Toll Plaza, residing at Shantipath Residency. A raid conducted in the pre‑dawn hours of 21 July resulted in his arrest at roughly 02:30 a.m. under Section 35(1)(J) of the BNSS Act, 2023.
The capture ties back to a case filed in 2024 at Disa Rural Police Station, Banaskantha district, which invoked the Gujarat Prohibition Act and IPC sections covering forgery and falsified documents.
Investigators also confiscated a Rs 45,000 iPhone 17 Pro Max from the suspect’s belongings.
According to SMC officials, Rawal is wanted in seven cases spread across Disa Rural, Sector‑21, Pethapur, Kalol and Palanpur‑West police stations for the period 2023‑2026. He allegedly arranged shipments of Indian‑manufactured foreign liquor (IMFL) from Rajasthan, supplying the product to various Gujarat cities and districts.
Authorities claim more than 35 cases under the prohibition law have been lodged against him, with the Pethapur police designating him a listed liquor smuggler.
Ten criminal cases, involving prohibition violations and related offenses, are currently before district, sessions and JAMC courts. Non‑appearance in court prompted the issuance of arrest warrants, and investigators maintain that Rawal remained active in the illegal liquor trade while on the run.
