GST Enforcement Team Halts Illegal Transport of Gutchka in Dibru Garh

A special task force comprising GST officials and police from the Gabarpur station carried out a decisive seizure in Dibru Garh on July 3. The operation targeted a transport vehicle found to be carrying 65 bags of the snack brand "Signature" Gutchka.

The team discovered that the cargo did not have an accompanying GST e‑Way Bill, a required document that tracks the movement of taxable goods across state lines. The lack of this electronic record meant the shipment violated multiple provisions of the GST Act.

Following the discovery, the authorities confiscated the entire load and the vehicle, initiating legal proceedings against the driver and the alleged owners of the goods. A comprehensive investigation is now in progress to trace the supply chain and identify any additional participants in the illegal trade.

Officials highlighted that the raid is part of an ongoing crackdown on tax evasion, unlicensed commerce, and the transport of goods without proper documentation. They urged all commercial entities to observe GST compliance rigorously to avoid severe punitive action.

The administration reaffirmed its commitment to regular enforcement sweeps, aiming to create a deterrent effect and safeguard the state's fiscal health.
