Grassroots participation key to 'Developed Assam' vision, says state leader

Assam’s development roadmap, branded as ‘Developed Assam’, places community participation at its core, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. In a recent post on X, the CM stressed that the Viksit Bharat‑Ji Ram Ji initiative will thrive only when villagers are directly involved in decision‑making and project implementation.

The community‑first framework aims to provide each village with better income avenues, seamless connectivity to economic centers, and well‑maintained public spaces. By entrusting local groups with the responsibility of monitoring progress, the government expects faster, more transparent delivery of services.

The strategy aligns with ongoing efforts to reinforce rural infrastructure, from constructing all‑weather roads to expanding broadband coverage. These upgrades are intended to reduce travel time for students, patients and traders, linking them efficiently to education, health and market facilities.

Sarma’s statements arrive at a critical juncture, as Assam seeks to balance rapid economic growth with inclusive, bottom‑up development. By positioning residents as co‑creators rather than passive beneficiaries, the state hopes to embed resilience and self‑reliance into its villages.
