The Central government shared encouraging updates on LPG distribution Saturday, reporting over 51.5 lakh household cylinders delivered on April 10. On the same day, sales of 5-kg FTL cylinders hit around 1 lakh units across India, up from February 2026’s daily average of 77,000.

From March 23, 2026, onwards, more than 12 lakh such lightweight cylinders have reached essential communities like students and migrant laborers, as per Petroleum Ministry data. This targeted distribution is part of broader efforts to support those affected by recent disruptions.

States are doubling their daily 5-kg FTL quotas for migrants, calibrated against early March averages. Available only through state governments and OMCs, these cylinders ensure aid stays focused on in-state workers.

In the last week, OMCs held nearly 2,900 camps, selling over 29,000 units and raising awareness effectively. Despite global pressures, priority goes to household fuels, hospitals, and schools.

Officials advised against hoarding fuels, pushing digital bookings and alternatives like PNG or induction cooking. Energy-saving habits are vital now. Supply enhancements include higher refinery production, longer booking windows—25 days urban, 45 rural—and area-specific prioritization. These measures balance demand and keep essentials flowing smoothly.
