Governor and Military Leaders Plant Sindoor Trees in Landmark Ceremony

Patna, July 21 – The Governor of Bihar, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasanain, joined forces with Bihar Agricultural University’s Vice‑Chancellor Dr. D.R. Singh and Major General Jitendra Singh, GOC of the Danapur Sub‑Area, to plant Sindoor saplings at the newly created Sindoor Park in Danapur Army Cantonment.

The planting of 350 Sindoor (Biksha Orelana) trees marks the inauguration of India’s first Sindoor Park, a project that combines the valor of the armed forces with a commitment to environmental preservation and the country’s push for self‑reliance.

During the event, the Governor emphasized that the park will stand as a testament to the trust and cooperation between the military and the civilian population, sending a clear message that protecting the nation and nurturing the environment are equally vital to nation‑building. She lauded the research and commercialization initiatives led by BAU, which aim to turn natural Sindoor into a sustainable resource for rural economies.

Vice‑Chancellor Dr. Singh described the Sindoor colour as an embodiment of devotion, integrity, courage, and ultimate sacrifice—traits mirrored by Indian soldiers. He highlighted BAU’s continuous efforts in conserving Sindoor, improving its scientific cultivation, enhancing its market value, and promoting its commercial use, especially empowering rural women.

The ceremony was attended by BAU’s Director of Administration Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Director of Research Dr. A.K. Singh, ARI Patna Director Dr. Shivnath Das, senior army officers, university researchers and other notable guests. Speakers portrayed the Sindoor Park as more than a tree‑planting exercise; it represents a shared pledge to the nation, nature and society.
