Governor Asked to Investigate River‑Bank Failures and Infrastructure Irregularities
Pappu Yadav’s memorandum asked the governor to order an exhaustive probe into the collapse of the Gandak riverbank and the alleged laxity in flood‑control measures. He argued that merely suspending engineers is insufficient; the inquiry must also examine the role of executive and supervisory engineers and other senior officials.
The MP demanded a quality audit of the sand (sariya) used in bridge projects, verification of approved TMT steel lists, and scrutiny of low‑bid contracts that may compromise safety standards. He pointed out that substandard materials could jeopardize the longevity of critical infrastructure across the state.
Yadav stressed that any findings should translate into corrective action, ensuring that future construction adheres strictly to approved specifications and that responsible officials are held liable.
