Government urges beneficiaries to visit fair price shops for fingerprint enrollment before 5 pm

A special state‑level camp will be set up on Saturday, August 29, in every ration shop across Tamil Nadu. The window for registration is from 09:00 to 17:00 hours. Authorities have appealed to all ration‑card holders who have not yet completed fingerprint authentication to go to their designated fair‑price shop and finish the process. The move comes after the centre instructed states to verify the biometric details of every beneficiary linked to an electronic ration card, especially those under the Priority Household and Antyodaya Anna Yojana schemes. With 96.21 % of priority‑ration cards already verified, the camp intends to achieve full 100 % coverage without causing any delay in the distribution of food grains. Shop staff will assist beneficiaries, and the government expects the drive to reduce the need for multiple visits.
