Government Orders Train Cancellations and Metro Shutdown Ahead of Demo

Authorities have issued orders to cancel all trains scheduled to arrive at Hazrat Nizamuddin and New Delhi railway stations between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. on 10 October. In addition, every one of the city’s 57 Metro stations will be closed for the same period.

SKM described the move as a reactionary step born out of fear of the upcoming protest at Jantar Mantar. The front also pointed out that the police have planned to deploy 26,000 officers to manage the event, interpreting the massive deployment as evidence of political insecurity rather than a genuine security need.

The organisation called for a balanced approach, suggesting that police could use barricading, traffic rerouting and crowd‑control measures without resorting to blanket closures that disrupt daily life for commuters.
