New government schemes to aid wheat, maize and pulse growers in Bihar
Under the Rabi Mahayog 2026 umbrella, Bihar’s Agriculture Department announced a series of schemes targeting wheat, maize, pulse and oilseed cultivators. The chief minister stressed that graded subsidies, coupled with scientific guidance, will enhance crop productivity and farmer profitability.
Key components include the distribution of high‑quality inputs at subsidised rates, direct benefit transfers to eligible cultivators, and the provision of modern machinery on a rental or subsidised purchase basis. Zero‑tillage drills and seed‑drilling equipment will be promoted to ensure uniform sowing depth and optimal seed placement, especially for wheat.
The department will also conduct soil testing campaigns, encouraging balanced fertilizer use and organic amendments to preserve soil health. Farmers will receive training on integrated pest management and climate‑smart practices, aiming to reduce dependence on chemical inputs.
By integrating these measures with existing profit‑linked insurance and market linkage programs, the state hopes to create a resilient farming ecosystem that delivers higher yields and stable incomes throughout the Rabi season.
